“I have enough confidence in the Word and the Spirit of God to believe that if people will pray in this way, in the long run their prayers will be far more biblical than if they just make up their own prayers.”
Don’t take offense to the phrase “make up their own prayers”. That’s what we do. We make up phrases and prayers that kind of skirt around the issues and skirt around a Biblical theme or idea but are not exactly and poignantly Biblical. The Scriptures help us shape our prayers.
“By this means, the Spirit of God will use the Word of God to help the people of God increasingly according to the will of God.”
Powerful, powerful statement right there. One that I had to read a few times to grasp the full meaning of. But….truth. The more we read the Bible, the more we pray things of the Bible. The more the Spirit urges us to read the Bible, the more the Spirit has to work with in us when we are praying. The more we read and interact with the Spirit, the more we’ll be praying things that are closer to God’s heart and will because we are slowly coming in line with the Spirit of God in us and the heart of the Father.
Yes….Father, your Spirit in us. Please use your Spirit in us to draw us closer and closer to You each and every day. Let Your Spirit guide us, lead us and draw us closer and closer to who you are every day of our lives.
